DSAL's current product range includes:
sde - spike detection engine
In Financial Institutions, traders and automated trading systems respond to the real-time market data received from external or internal sources. Spikes within this data can cause trades to be initiated at prices which are outside the market - with potentially serious consequences for the profitability of the organization. Lack of faith in the quality of the data received often results in delays whilst the quality is checked which, in turn, results in missed opportunities.
Spikes can also confuse VAR calculations by expanding boundaries in error. They can endanger Hedge Funds and Proprietary Trading desks who trade in real time using analytics such as VWAP's to make trading decisions using automated systems. They don't just cause delays, they can also contribute to bad trading decisions.
Based on DSAL's DQE (Data Quality Engine) product SDE is specifically engineered to provide clients with the ability to detect spikes in real-time market data streams, without causing latency in the delivery of the data to downstream consumers and/or applications.
SDE incorporates a rules engine to test and determine the accuracy of each update, utilising rules both provided by DSAL, as standard, and defined by individual clients. The configurability of the engine enables clients to define:
- Sources - the sources of data available.
- Rules - the rules to be applied to the data being tested.
- Actions - to be on detection; remove, correct or flag.
SDE provides a full audit trail of:
- Configuration Data - the rules that are available within each module, the rules that have been configured to execute, the parameters utilized by each rule, etc.
- Meta Data - data that defines the instrument classes and individual instruments, which is used to determine whether or not a rule should be executed for an update.
- Tests Executed and Results - the tests executed and the result achieved for every update passed through the application.
SDE is currently available for Sun Solaris 9, Red Hat & SuSe Linux and Microsoft Windows 2003 & XP.
